Okay....so its been...A YEAR...I guess its time to catch up!
The big news so far is that the little blue barn in under NEW MANAGEMENT! I'm very excited with the plans for improvments! One of those plans is to have a dedicated OUTDOOR RIDING AREA or maybe even TWO!
Management is also looking at how to reconfigure our paddocks to give us the most "bang for our buck" so to say. Smaller herds and rotating paddocks is the goal!
I will have dates for SUMMER CAMP out soon so please check that page often! I'm really looking forward to camp this year...I have a couple of fun ideas planned!
As always, we appreciate any referrals! As a reminder, for every person you refer for lessons that purchases a PACKAGE you will receive one free lesson as a THANK YOU for your support!
In the Fall of 2013 we started offering PEE WEE LESSONS and BIRTHDAY PARTIES at the barn! These are wonderful opportunities to encourage more people to experience the joy, wonder and fun of horses and riding! Please see their pages for information!
Finally...SUMMER IS AROUND THE CORNER!!! Honestly, after this horrid winter I was a little worried we would never actually see summer. I am once again looking for volunteers this summer to help with barn chores, grooming at shows, camps and birthday parties! Please contact me for more information!
And again....I will TRY not to let a WHOLE YEAR pass between updates!

Oh my...where HAS the time gone?
I admit...I am not very good at this blogging business. Shall we catch up?
2012 was a very busy year. We have settled into the "new" location and as everything in life it continues to be a work in progress with repairs and updates.
Summer 2012 was quite busy with the Daydream Equestrian Show Team at a horse show every other weekend. We really focused on showing on the Chicago Hunter/Jumper Circuit and spent the summer between Sunrise Farms, Twin Oaks and Windy Isles. All of my students did GREAT earning many ribbons and a couple of Reserve and Champions as well. I will eventually get pictures up in the Photo Gallery....I promise
Now what kind of mom would I be if I didn't brag...just a little...I want to congratulate my daughter, Skylar on her AWESOME year showing Archie (show name Past My Bedtime). They have really become a team!!! They ended up competing exclusively in hunters and Skylar even won a Champion in the Junior Equitation Division at Windy Isle Farm, helping her earn the title of RESERVE JUNIOR EQUITATION CHAMPION at the year end banquet!!!
Looking forward to 2013...
* Please check back for our Summer Camp dates. I hope to have those up before the end of this month (of THIS year)
* Lessons will still be focused in Hunter/Jumper but we seem to be moving more into Combined Training.
* We still plan on showing on the Chicago Hunter/Jumper Circuit but we are hoping to squeeze in a few schooling mini-events as well.
I will try not to let an ENTIRE YEAR go by before my next update. Hope to see you at the barn!

Ok, so TECHNICALLY its still May (the 28th) but its so close to June....
BIG NEWS around here!!!! WE HAVE MOVED TO A NEW LOCATION!!! We are now located at 13143 Laraway Rd. in New Lenox. Daydream Equestrian is located on the same property as A Little Bit of Heaven at the Blue Barn.
I want to THANK everyone that helped with the move!!! It was no small feat to move an entire barn & horses and of course it was one of the hottest days of the summer.
A Little Bit of Heaven has been putting alot of energy and hours into fixing the barn up...they have begun replacing/repairing the fencing, seeding the pastures, grating the arena and general clean up/pick up. We are very happy to have found a home and are grateful to how kind everyone has been while we settle in.
SUMMER CAMP 2011 will still go on!!! Check the Summer Camp page for dates and details.
Lessons & boarding is still continueing as before. We really hope to make it out to some shows this summer! The first one on the calendar is the Downtown Equestrian Jumper Series...it will be the first time that my daughter, Skylar & her horse Archie, are showing jumpers and we are very excited (ok and a little nervous). We hope to see you there!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
I can't believe that I haven't posted an update since JULY!!!! My only excuse is how busy I have been with the barn (and regular work and being a mom and ...you get it)
Let me catch you up on what's been going on!!
So guess what that means...we are FULL at this time...anyone interested in boarding will be placed on a wait list...I HAVE A WAIT LIST!
My family has been laughing at me because of how excited I am...this is a dream come true for me! I always dreamed about running my own barn but to actually walk in and have all the stalls full of horses...well it just feels like I am just dreaming...then reality hits when all those full stalls need to be cleaned because they are full of you-know-what
Its the beginning of a new year...a time when resolutions are made, new goals planned, lives are re-evaluated. I want to take a moment to share some of my new year thoughts:
I wish everyone a happy and healthy NEW YEAR!! May all of YOUR dreams start to come true this year!!

Well we have moved into our new facility and the horses have settled in nicely!
We have spent the better part of the month cleaning up the barn, building a tack room for students (which will double as a temporary tack room for boarders), tearing down broken stalls (soon to be replaced), etc etc etc...seems like the work is never done and I am LOVING every minute of it!
I want to thank everyone that came by the OPEN HOUSE on July 11th. It was fun sharing my hopes for the future with everyone!
The heat & humidity is definitely putting a "damper" on us and our first concern is always the horses. We are trying to help them out by limiting turnout to "cooler" hours (do they really exist?), making sure that cool water is always available as well as rinsing out water buckets daily to encourage drinking. The horses also have free access to salt. We have had a couple of seriously hot days - on those days the horse get to enjoy an extra rinse in our indoor wash rack...its amazing how quickly they learn to appreciate the cool down.
I'm looking forward to working on the rest of my plans for the new barn...outdoor riding area, individual turnouts, etc. I'm looking forward to the fall when I can finally PAINT the barn (inside) and the fences!! Its always amazing to me how a fresh coat of paint makes everything look...fresh.
Stop by and visit!!

I am so excited I can't even stand it!!
Today, after 25 years of dreaming...I signed the lease on a HORSE PROPERTY of my own! I am so excited to be moving out on my own and terrified at the same time! I sort of feel the way I did when I left for college.
I'm excited at this new journey in my life. I am filled with so many hopes and thoughts of what life will be like moving forward. I cannot wait to make new friends and discover talents that I can't even imagine I have.
At the same time I am terrified! I am moving away from the safety of experienced friends that have helped me. I AM THE RESPONSIBLE one and will have rules that people (hopefully) will follow. Will I fail? How badly will i struggle? Will I succeed? Have I prepared enough? Do I have what it takes?
This is a journey I am more than ready to take! I look forward to growing my business. I hope that DAYDREAM EQUESTRIAN CENTER will become a second home to people. I look forward to:
And before I forget!! Mark your calenders!! OPEN HOUSE will be on Sunday, July 11, 2010 I plan on having some demonstrations of what students learn in lessons, lead-line horse rides for children, raffles and, of course TOURS OF THE FACILITIES!!!

Just when it looks like Spring is over and Summer is ready to come on full swing...we first have to suffer Monsoon Season! While all this rain is GREAT for the grass and flowers...its starting to wreck havoc on the pastures on our turn-out schedule!!!
The poor horses have spent way too much time indoors due to the rain! We are lucky to have two nice non-grass paddocks...unfortunately one is dirt (aka mud) and the other is limestone...which is GREAT! except that a barnful of horses won't fit into one little paddock...so they are on timed turnouts or go out in the indoor arena. *sigh* Getting out of the stalls is good for our four legged friends but they are ready for some FRESH AIR!
Oh well....its always something isn't it?
We have a lot of things planned for this summer! Check out the "Photo Gallery" for pictures from shows that we have attended and just plain fun at the barn. ALSO...information about CAMP is UP!!! Is a work in progress so please keep checking back. Right now we have the Pee-Wee schedule up but we will DEFINATELY have camps for older kids.
I hope you guys have your paddles handy in case this rain never stops (Kidding!)! And we'll chat more next month!

YIKES!!! I haven't updated this blog since CHRISTMAS time!!!
Well to get you up to speed...everything is going well at the barn. All of the ponies are settled into the routine of our new facilities and I love being "in charge" instead of a regular boarder.
We are busy preparing for the upcoming summer season!! Lots to do!!
* SUMMER CAMP!!
I'm still in the beginning/planning stage but I'm hoping to get at least three different sessions up and running this summer. They will be divided by age group. Camp will include more involved hands on learning...how to clean stalls & tack, feeding/nutrition and of course RIDING! Please check back for details!
Summer is always busy with lessons. If you are interested in lessons please email or call because we will be filling up fast...we wouldn't want you to be left out
Of course we can't forget SHOWS!!! Summer IS show season! We are planning on participating in the Chicago Hunter/Jumper Circuit so watch for us to be competeing at Sunrise Farms, Windy Isles Farm, Twin Oaks Farm and Kerry Meadows. Stop by and wish us luck!!

December brings us Holiday Cheer and the end of the year!
Along with everyone else, I am reminising on 2009 and have decided that despite the ups n downs, 2009 has been a HUGE year for me!
Most significantly is the start of Daydream Equestrian Center. I am so pleased with how things are coming together and look forward to the upcoming year.
Also, I can't not mention the "big day"....CHRISTMAS! Not only is there shopping for family and friends...I haven't forgotten my four legged horsey friends! While I dream of halters, saddle pads, blankets and new tack, I am sure that the critters are just happy to have a safe home where they are fed everyday and loved.
My personal Christmas "present" was a new horse! Yes I am one lucky girl! Check out the photo gallery in the next couple of days for pictures of my new Thoroughbred gelding. He came with the name..."Winter"...how appropriate don't you think? I'm not sure if I will be changing it. I am looking forward to spending this time indoors schooling and getting back in riding shape. He's a little out of shape himself so at least we can get fit together!
I hope that everyone has a wonderful holiday season! See you next year!

November is one of my favorite months. I start the month with my birthday which is always fun! And its the month of THANKSGIVING!!! While Christmas remains my most favorite holiday I LOVE Thanksgiving because we celebrate all that is good in our lives...food, family, the wonderful things that have happened throughout the year.
This Thanksgiving I feel especially thankful. It goes without saying that I am thankful for my family's health and we've been able to make it through the year without any major health or life crisis. But its been a big year on the "horse-y front" for me as well.
In March I decided to branch out on my own and start my own lesson program. Its small but growing and slowly gaining more students. I can only begin to imagine what next year will bring.
Also in March we welcomed "Libby" into our animal family. She has been simply lovely since then and we couldn't have asked for a more wonderful animal to bless our lives.
This past summer was fun with some local shows and all three of my daughters really grew in their riding skills. Danielle & Aliya began learning to canter and Skylar had some consistant success at the local hunter/jumper shows we attended.
Then in September, I had to opportunity to move into Winfal Farms in Mokena and start the boarding side of my business as well as grow the lesson program. WHAT LUCK!!! It has been a wonderful experience and I love everyday that I am out there with the horses. I finally feel like my horses are getting the care they deserve and their health has never been better!!!
I also love that whenever they see me now they nicker and get so excited! Granted its because they see me as the "bringer of food" but it still warms my heart!
So this Thanksgiving, you can bet that I am counting my blessings and giving as much thanks as I can!
